Football Club History Database - Anglo-Italian Cup 1992-93

A new Anglo-Italian Cup was inagurated in 1992, for teams from the English (Division One) and Italian (Serie B) second tiers. A preliminary round in England saw the 24 clubs pared down to 8, which then played in two groups with 8 Italian Clubs. The top English club in each group played-off for a place in the final, as did the top Italian club in each group, thus guaranteeing an international final, to be played at Wembley Stadium.
