Season summary 1939-40

This page is the index to all the league competitions for the 1939-40 season that are featured in the FCHD.

With the outbreak of World War II, most competitive football ceased. Some leagues had not started their fixtures, others had played one or two sets of games and abandoned their season. A few leagues arranged emergency competitions, or managed to struggle on despite teams pulling out at various points.
