Screen Sport Super Cup |
After English clubs had been banned from European Competitions due to the 1985 Heysel disaster, cable TV company Screen Sport sponsored a competition for those clubs that would otherwise have been playing in Europe.
The six clubs were drawn in to two groups of three, with the top two from each group qualifying for knock-out semi-finals and final, both played over two legs. Fixture congestion led to the 1985/86 final being held over to September 1986, and the competition was never held again.
