Format - 16 English clubs divided into four groups, winners qualifying for quarter finals. 8 Scottish clubs played two-legged knockout ties, with the four winners qualifying for the quarter finals. Each quarter final to be between an English club and a Scottish club.

In English groups, 2pts for a win, 1 for a draw, 1 Bonus point for scoring 3 or more goals in a game
